Cycle helmet with retractable eye protection

Protective headgear for military pilots and motorcyclists has long featured retractable eye protection, but for the first time this option is now available on a cycle helmet.

Duxhelm has launched the world’s first bike helmet with a retractable, removable, and replaceable lens incorporated into its design. The polycarbonate lenses are available in clear, smoke, amber or with a blue, gold or purple reflective finish.

Cycle insurance from the ETA protects against theft, accidental damage and vandalism (including at race events) and includes £5m third party insurance, a breakdown recovery service for cyclists and worldwide cover.

Cycle helmet innovations

It is perhaps because cycle helmets consist of little more than polystyrene covered with a thin layer of plastic that their promotion relies on subtle difference in styling. The various cycle helmet accessories launched over the years including refrigerated inserts, helmets with a built-in headlamp  , a system that calls for help if you crash and even an over-sized wig to wear over the top of the helmet  have been of questionable value. But whatever the reason you wear a cycle helmet, the nifty retractable lens design offered by Duxhelm appears to be genuinely useful innovation.
