When we gave away an Airtag tracker last week, someone on Twitter spoke up on behalf of android users. We promised to redress the imbalance and, true to our word, here we are with a Tile Pro and bicycle mount.
Without GPS trackers it’s almost impossible to recover stolen bicycles; it’s why the police give so little priority to the crime. An investigation by a national newspaper last year revealed no suspect is identified or charged in 87 per cent of cases. In other words, cycle thieves in the UK are very likely to get away with it.
Trackers can’t replace the need for a good cycle insurance policy, but they’re useful bits of kit nevertheless. The Tile Pro share many features with its Apple Airtag counterpart, but the ‘find my phone’ feature is exclusive to the android device; you can double press the button on the Tile to make your phone ring, even when it’s on silent.
3D-printed bike tracker mount
This 3D-printed mounting system to hold the Tile Pro to your bike frame makes use of the existing bottle cage holes. Its makers claim an anti-rattle design avoids any unwelcome noise while riding.
Win a Tile Pro tracker and bike mount
We have an android-compatible Tile Pro tracker and bicycle frame mount to give away. To be in with a chance of bagging the prize, simply leave us a message below and we’ll pick a winner next week.
The ethical choice
The ETA was established in 1990 as an ethical provider of green, reliable travel services. Over 30 years on, we continue to offer cycle insurance , breakdown cover and mobility scooter insurance while putting concern for the environment at the heart of all we do.
The Good Shopping Guide judges us to be the UK’s most ethical provider.
Darron Hawkins
I would definitely want one of these. After having a bike stolen in the past I would definitely track down the thieves and make them give it back.
Jill M
I would certainly make good use of this. For once get something back.
Paul S
Great option for Android users.
Pedro Vicente
Count me in, from Portugal!
Charles
About time Android has this.
Tim Hogan
Been looking for one for some time, if I don’t win the free one, were can I buy them?
Chris Thomas
Looks useful.
John Satterthwaite
Sadly a much needed device in todays world
Tom
Yes please! The sticker on my bike that says it’s GPS-tracked will then be accurate!
Rhodri Palmer
Definitely something useful! Especially when leaving your bike locked up in town
Andy Brown
I’ll be pro night on the tiles, should I win..
Tink
This sounds dead useful.
Owen
Yes please, our e tandem is most precious to us.
Yousaf Mirza
A great idea. Getting the police on board seems to be half the battle. This will help!
Paul
Yes please! Need one of these after my bike got stolen last year
Rose Davidson
Thank you to whoever spoke up for Android users. I bought my first brand new bike and and I feel so stupid; I’ve been too worried to cycle into the city because of bike theft. Great to have a positive ‘gamble’ in my inbox this morning!
Dan Donnelly
Had a bike stolen from outside my work last year and the local police were as much use as paper umbrella in a thunderstorm. If I had one of these at the time I think it would have been a very different situation so I would love one of these for my new bike!
DarrenC
Count me in!
You read so much about the Apple version that I wasn’t aware that there was one for Android too.
Janet Robertson
Great idea! Thanks for thinking of Android users!
Tom W
One of these might just have helped to get my Van Nick bike back when it was stolen.
Muhammad M
I’d love one of these thanks. Bike theft is a huge worry in London even with good locks.
JamesM
Didn’t realise there’s an Android tracker. Great that there is.
P Green
Yes please! Anything to help convince the police to help
Chris Martin
Love a Tile, it’s so useful when like me you forget where you leave everything!!
Gus
Would like a tracker particularly in light of the cycle thefts happening around London
Donald Woodman
This would be nice.
Simon Knott
It looks splendid, and as I was the person who spoke up on twitter on behalf of android users, I clearly want one!
Pete
Glad to see those of us without iPhones being catered for too!
Andrew Smith
Android user here. Great item, yes please.
Julian Fargher
Yes please
Steve
Please pull my name from the hat
Jonathan M
Useful if my bike gets stolen or I lose my memory then my wife can find me (assuming she does want me back).
Lawrence
Great prize. Would love to win it.
Andy Dark
Now that I have hit 60 I need this device more than anyone else that leaves a message so that I can sound hip and up to date using words like GPS and Airtag.
Tobi James
Finally a decent tracker that’ll work with property phones
Ben
Been looking for one for some time, if I don’t win the free one, were can I buy them?
james
So very practical.
i`d love one.
Jim Duffy
Mmmmmm!!! Now where did I leave my bike when I went for my bun and coffee ………. as I wonder haphazardly around the side streets ……. you know what? A gadget that would let me know where it is would be really useful!! …… What!!!! Copenhagen!!!!!! Strewth!!!
Kevin
Would be a great deterrent – particularly useful when having to leave the bike in foreign cities whilst we explore.
Andrew
No one’s nicked my bike yet…….. But there’s always a first time
deadmanjones
Well isn’t this a steal
Craig Young
Sadly, these are all too necessary these days for those of us who park up in city centres.
Katy
Thank you for thinking of us Androids
David
This would certainly help protect my pride and joy!
Stephen
Thanks for thinking of us android users. Nice prize for someone lucky!
Mark B
Yes please. This would be good peace of mind.
Nick
Peace of mind thanks to Tile Pro.
Martin
I used to fit passive tracking devices to all my bikes but never got a stolen bike back.
Active trackers like this are an improvement but any professional thief will have them off in an instant if they have the gear to cut off two Gold Secure D Locks in seconds!
Colin
i a m a n a n d r o i d t h a n k y o u . . .
Rob Lewis
Hopefully I would never need it, but it would be nice to have peace of mind.
James Ellaway
Great solution and good to see for us Android users!
dave lucraft
Oh, yes please. Been looking for something like this.
Pete Clark
Yes please. Attractive piece of kit
ChrisB
Great, this would suit me and my android phone.
David
I can imagine some folks wanting one of these to discretely hide on their boss, so they can get a warning of their approach.
John
My precious bike would be so much safer with a tracker
David Gray
Useful if range is sufficient
Moragh
I’d love this.
Reuben
Would be useful, I would love to go in the hat.
Vivien
Thank you to those who pointed out that Android users also use bikes, I would feel happier with one of these attached to my bike and will investigate where to get one because I know I won’t win this one – but good to know about it, so thank you ETA.
Mags
Great news – a tracker for an Android user. Maybe on my Santa list if I don’t win.
Bazza
Making tracks will be safer with this.
Kevin Morris
Would love one of these to have peace of mind to know I would get my emtb back and save having to claim off my insurance, and reduce my policy payment. Merry Christmas everyone and good luck
Greg McIntyre
Winning this would be a great end to the year. Fingers crossed
Gillian
If I was lucky enough to win this, I’ll give it to my daughter as she lives in the middle of Cambridge and he’s very reliant on her bicycle to get around.
Rachel Anne Walls
Yes please!! This would be very handy .
Alastair
Anything to retrieve a stolen bike is worth it.
Andy
Great gift, would be very welcome, locks are a must but not much use against a determined criminal
Thanks
Stan
Sounds good
Graham Clark
Yes please 🙂 Another layer of defence should the worst happen…
Chris Johnson
I will look into buying four of these for our family’s bikes, but having one given to me would be a great relief for our family budget.
CraigSA
Anything that helps with security of our pride and joy bikes, sounds like a good idea. Would love to try it
Marsha Lomond
I’d like one for my son, who cycles everywhere and often has to leave his bike locked up in possibly unsafe areas
Sarah
I would like to own one of these. If some toe rag stole my bike I would have a better chance of it being recovered.
Mark
Anything which challenges those nasty bike thieves has my vote.
Bill
Maybe with one of these I wouldn’t feel the need to carry a bike lock with me around my waist that must weigh almost as much as my bike?! (Had two bikes nicked in the past and it still hurts…)
Ride with Roy
I’ve recently been testing the android version of the Air Tag for a ‘Ride with Roy’review. I rode with an AirTag user while I used a loaned android version. My expectations of the Android version were low but I was pleasantly surprised. In a very rural area it was the Android phone that picked up a hit first. On one occasion, the Apple device didn’t have a signal while the Android did, but this also happened in reverse. This part of these test was mobile but when static both devices easily located the ‘stolen’ bike. A huge benefits of these tags is that there is no ongoing subscription cost. However, as ETA say, no replacement for reliable insurance.
Peter
Bike theft is such a blight, especially in flat stairwells. I’ve had 2 stolen with no investigation. It would be amazing to track it.
Philip GREGG
Would love one.
Victoria mcfadden
Yes me too I’ve had my bike stolen 4 times now with a baby seat on the back as well .
I need this x
P Gregg
Yes please.
Colin
Nice prize, thanks ETA.
Gary Dawes
Sweet.
I have tiles already on my keys so this would fit nicely into my existing “ecosystem.
Fingers crossed!
Darren smile
Would be very handy for my bicycle, and added peace of mind, as I couldn’t afford to replace it if it was stolen
Iain
This could be handy
Paul
About time someone took bicycle theft seriously, great tool to catch the expletives
Adam
Would love one of these, recently had my nukeproof scout custom built bike Stolen from outside morrisons supermarket, lost just under £2000 .
Fasica
Yes please! I want to track my 14th possible would one day be stolen bike for sure 😅😉👍🏼
Dave
Lovely stuff
Jan Gomez
Lost 2 cheap folding bikes, now owns a brompton and “tile” seem to be very useful incase thieves have another go with my bike..
Kevin Mitchell
Simple yet effective like all good design.
Clement
Finally a tracker that can match the system I have on my motorcycle and very much needed. Having had bikes stolen in the past and having my bikes locked to ground anchors in my garage these trackers add a bit more piece of mind
Edward M
This would be great. Although it does seem very easy to just remove should a thief want to
Daniel Lopes
Really good to see this for Android. Could really do with one of these as I have just bought a brand new Trek Top Fuel 5 Full Suspension bike which isn’t cheap and the last thing i would want is for it to be stolen and not be able to trace it. Down with Apple 😂.
whobiggs
About time too, I hate Apple!
Stephen Gilligan
Can this be purchased if not won?
Jonny M
Such a valuable gadget! I need one for my bike! (I may have accidentally duplicated comment as I pressed the back button previously )
Ema A
Thank you for thinking of us, non Apple users.
Jason Smith
Looks nice and neat. Great idea.
Derek Pearse
Lost if found please send too…
James McMahon
Super useful, can you fit a bottle cage on top of it? That would be great.
Jonathan H
Comment! 😀
Sean Chadwick
I double lock my bike whenever I go into a shop but still get so paranoid it’ll be gone when I return. This would give piece of mind.
leslie de jager
giving us cyclists something to safe guard our pricey, but needed, bikes !
more tags, better recovery results..
Francisco B
That’s just what I needed!
TD
Our bikes are precious to us so whoever wins this will be dead pleased – including me!
Pmozz
Great idea – yes please!👍
Jonny M
Such a valuable gadget!! I’d love to win this for my bike!
Adrian L
Great idea, love it, at last a GPS tracker for Android users! 🙂
Stella
I’ve been looking into getting a tracker for my bike. I’m also an android user so this would be great!
Good luck everyone! 😁
Chris P
Very good idea for Android users. Wish me luck!
Kit
These look great. Would deffo be after one
Mark W
I need one of these. Had my bike stolen a while ago and cost me nearly £1000 to replace it. If my new bike was stolen, one of these would help track it down!
Kevin
I’ve had 3 bikes stolen, all postcoded and I had frame numbers and all other information. Police weren’t interested.
Stephen
Finally. A product that can protect us all. Enough recovery protects everybody. We need a similar step change similar to where integrated sound systems stopped the trend of car stereo thefts in the late eighties and early nineties.
Jennie Parsons
A must for me living in Cambridge the cycle theft capital of the UK!!
