We call it the Cyclo Sprayer and it’s sole purpose is to help cyclists cool off in hot weather.
Our trusty office cargo bike is a bit like Thunderbird 2 – when there’s a crisis, it can turn its hand to any task. So when temperatures peaked earlier this week, we equipped it with a pressure washer and a tank of cold water and hit the sweltering streets.
The record-breaking temperatures were so extreme that some roads began to melt so it came as no surprise that the prospect of gliding through a mist of cool water was welcomed by all the cyclists we encountered, but we asked everyone before we sprayed just to make sure.
The project has made us think there must be all kinds of weird and wonderful uses for a cargo bike. What would you like to see one equipped with?
