Tool Monster Air – Taking the puff out of punctures

You can ride 1,000 uneventful miles only for the puncture fairy to strike with a vengeance. Nobody knows why, but punctures, like buses, tend to turn up in twos and threes. But however unwelcome an interruption your next puncture will be, you can ensure your roadside pit-stop runs smoothly by carrying the correct tools.

Promising to make puncture repair as painless as possible is the Tool Monster Air by Topeak. The multi-tool features a CO2 inflator head that fits both Presta and Schrader valves.

An articulated two-piece design allows improved leverage when using many of the tool’s 19 functions, which includes a 15mm open spanner for installation and removal of pedals. We have a Tool Monster together with a CO2 cartridge to give away. Simply leave us a message at the bottom of this page and we’ll pick a winner next week.

Every cycle insurance policy sold by the ETA includes Cycle Rescue –  a service that recovers you and your bike should you suffer a mechanical breakdown or puncture. However, it always pays to know how to fix a flat yourself.

Environmentally friendly cycle insurance

On the face of it, one cycle insurance policy is much like another, but the devil is the detail. How much excess you will be charged is just one of the things that varies wildly between providers. Another is so called ‘new-for-old’ replacement – many insurers use this term, but if your bicycle is more than a few years old, devalue it severely.

For over 30 years we’ve provided straightforward, affordable bicycle insurance. Whether you use your bike to commute, shop, race or amble in the park, ETA Cycle Insurance has you covered.

Punctures, sadly, are an occasional cost of cycling. Tools that help get them fixed fast are fantastic – all the quicker to get back on the bike and moving again.

There’s nothing quite so unpleasant as being stuck on a country road on a frosty winters night with a puncture. Any tools that help get your hands back in their gloves, and the wheels speeding you on your way has got to be a massive benefit. So, a great big “yes please”.

Handy as a multi-tool, BUT I would never use a CO2 cartridge for environmental reasons – a hand pump is far more efficient, takes years to wear out and is less damaging to precious planet earth.
