Start-up Ventum has a single remit; to build triathlon bicycles for people who like to go fast. Co-founders Diaa Nour and Jimmy Seear claim their 2015 bikes are lighter, faster and more technologically advanced than the competition.

According to Seear: “We don’t start with an existing bike and ask ‘What can we add to sell more bikes?’. Instead, we push ourselves: ‘How can we build the fastest bikes ever made?’ As a result, our bikes are like nothing else on the market. Ventum bikes look different and perform better.”
Ventum claims its prototype outperforms the industry-leading bicycle by more than 20 per cent in preliminary wind tunnel testing. A range of competition-ready bicycles aimed at IRONMAN and Challenge events will be unveiled later this summer.
Insurance for transition areas
When you are taking part in a cycle race or triathlon you are covered against theft, accidental damage and vandalism – including the transition area. The bike does not need to be locked while it is in the transition areas as long as the area is supervised by a marshal (which is usually the case). The insurance also includes 90 days’ cover worldwide.
