Retro rides: Anjou Velo for your vintage bicycle

A fashion for nostalgic cycle rides is growing across the channel. While we have the Tweed Run, an event held in London each year that grows in popularity by the year, the French have the Anjou Velo Vintage bicycle festival.

Anjou vintage ride

With a strong emphasis on recapturing the style and atmosphere of the early days of cycling, period-correct dress code and pre-1987 bicycle (strictly no handlebar-mounted gear shifters) are non-negotiable entry requirements! Replicas, single speed, American Cruiser and fixies are also welcome. Once your dress code is present and correct, choose between 30, 55, 90 or 150 km routes.

Cycle insurance this summer…we have you covered

Cycle insurance from the ETA includes everything we think you’ll need to enjoy your bike with complete peace of mind. As you might expect, it includes cover against theft (we don’t de-value your bike over time), accidental damage and vandalism, but what you might not realise is that we extend this to competition events such as triathlon for no extra charge.

Oh, and if you fancy taking apart in the Anjou vintage velo festival, you will be pleased to know you will be covered against theft, accidental damage and vandalism for 90 days worldwide. Our excess is 5 per cent. Also included at no additional cost is third party cover of £5m, a breakdown recovery service for your bike and cycle hire if you are without the use of your bike following a claim.
