Kwiggle: World’s most compact folding bicycle?

A new design of bicycle claims to be the most compact folder on the market. Weighing in at 7kg, the Kwiggle is arguably also the lightest, but is it too small to compete against Brompton and Dahon?

The Kwiggle relies on 8” wheels of the kind more commonly used on childrens’ scooters, an upright cycling position and an unusual frame configuration to make possible its diminutive 55cm x 40cm x 25cm folded size.

The design fits in a rucksack, but while small is good where folding bicycles are concerned, market leaders Dahon purposefully chooses 20” wheels and Brompton does not go smaller than a 16” rim; any smaller and ride quality tends to be compromised.

As always, the proof will be in the riding.
