Pedal-powered iPad for winter cyclists

To mark a ‘cycling season’ this year over a month longer than usual due to mild weather, the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) is giving away an iPad adapted to be powered by cyclists on the move.

The iPad is powered by a dynamo designed to charge the device safely no matter how fast the bicycle is travelling.

A spokesperson for the ETA said: “Seasonal cyclists tend to put away their bikes for winter by the time the clocks go back, but the mild weather this year has allowed many commuters to continue riding into December.”

An increasing number of cyclists use apps to plot routes, record their mileage or plan training regimes, but there remain very few ways of re-charging smart devices on the move.

To enter a free draw to win the pedal-powered iPad simply get a no-obligation, instant online quote for cycle insurance.

The competition draw closes on 21st December 2011.

Cycle insurance – from 33p per week

Every cycle insurance policy from the ETA includes new-for-old replacement if your bike is stolen, cover for accidental damage (race events included), third party insurance (in the case of an accident you may need to seek compensation or even deal with a claim by someone else), personal accident cover and if you breakdown, we will even come out and recover you and your bike.
