The art and craft of the bicycle

Thanks to the artist Joseph Griffiths, we now know what a bicycle will draw when given the opportunity.

Griffiths’s work seeks to ‘transcribe the living relationship between man and machines’.

His mechanical installation translates the movements of both the handlebars and pedals into colourful and vibrant images.

Make your own cycle pannier

Using a rucksacks to carry stuff while cycling can leave you with a sweaty back and tired shoulders. So why don’t more people use cycle panniers?

The website, Carryology believes the reason might be the design of existing panniers, so in a quest to provide a keenly-priced and better-looking alternative it has published plans on how to make you own for around £20.

The site gives a step-by-step guide on how to transform an army surplus canvas ammunition case (or other donor bag) into a practical and stylish pannier.
