A driver who followed directions from his sat nav to the edge of a cliff has been fined.
Robert Jones was found guilty of driving without due care and attention by Calderdale magistrates.
He was fined £370, told to pay £500 costs and given six points on his licence.
This comes after the 43 year old followed orders from his sat nav which instructed him to drive onto a narrow cliffside path in West Yorkshire, with the in-car device wrongly believing it was a road.
He followed this steep route until his BMW collided with a fence overlooking a 100ft drop.
Rescuing the car from the path took nine hours and cost Mr Jones, who drives for a living, around £1,000.
In other driver safety news, uninsured motorists will see their vehicle destroyed even if they are not caught behind its wheel, thanks to stricter regulations aimed at those without cover.
