Plans for two major road schemes in Wales have been cancelled.
The planned road which would deliver access to Cardiff Airport and an M4 relief passage have been scrapped, with rising costs noted as the reason behind these decisions.
Reacting to the ruling, David Rosser, Wales’ director for the Confederation of British Industry, said: "This is a bad day for the economy in Wales."
However, the decision has been welcomed by environmental groups.
The news came as part of the unveiled Welsh Transport Plan, which included proposals for improved local public transport and a greater emphasis on walking and cycling in the country.
Earlier this week, a group of 20 Welsh organisations called for changes to the nation’s transport policy, saying a "bold shift" was needed in order to tackle climate change.
The body suggested car sharing schemes, a congestion charge and extra cycle paths could be put in place.
