Latest pushchair can turn itself into a tricycle

A new design of trike that went on sale in Britain this week is able to transform itself into a child’s pushchair.

The Taga trike is quite unlike any cycle currently on British roads; it is designed to combine the benefits of a high-quality pushchair and a well-engineered bicycle.

In its pushchair form, the Taga can be taken on the underground, train or bus and there is no need to lock it up outside shops. The child passenger is carried in a forward-facing seat between the handlebars and secured by a five-point harness. It costs around £1,600.

A spokesperson for the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) said: “The Taga will be regarded as expensive in Britain, but elsewhere in Europe bicycles of this type are used as a healthy, efficient and green alternative to cars and in this context they represent good value.”

Insurance for your bicycle

All bikes are vulnerable to theft and in the case of an accident you may need to seek compensation or even deal with a claim by someone else.

At no extra cost, cycle insurance from the ETA includes new-for-old replacement, cover for accidental damage, third party insurance, personal accident cover and if you breakdown, we will even come out and recover you and your bike.
