The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has launched a scheme which aims to make young drivers safer on the roads.
An assessment giving those aged between 17 and 24-years-old information on their style and ability behind the wheel is now available.
The initiative involves motorists being given appraisals on their driving from objective, qualified professionals.
Rich Wood, head of training with the safety body, comments that this could be a way of helping newly qualified drivers to identify their weak points.
He says: "Our assessment is a great start in improving the current state of affairs for young drivers – the blunt fact is that many of them crash soon after passing their test."
According to the group, more than 300 new drivers and their passengers are killed in accidents on the road each year.
