Road is a ‘potential death trap’

Campaigners in the south of England are urging authorities to review a road after several major accidents in five days.

Four people have been killed, including a 14-year-old boy, in four incidents on the A38 near Plymouth since last Saturday (April 12th).

Gary Streeter, member of parliament for South West Devon, described the road as "a potential death trap".

He said: "I think the main focus should be on the junctions. They have already closed one, but this is a very dangerous road and I don’t think they are taking it seriously enough."

Mr Streeter added that he will be contacting the Highways Agency to encourage further action to be taken to make the road safer.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Navestock parish council has stated it would rather leave potholes on the village’s roads as a traffic-calming measure.
