Banish the January blues with bidon bling

Orb illuminated water bottle

Cyclists shouldn’t have to light themselves up like Christmas trees to feel safe on the roads, but who couldn’t benefit from a little extra light in their lives come January?

The all-new Orb MKII is an illuminated water bottle that flashes with 72 lumens of light to increase your visibility at junctions.

The revised design is modular so you can remove the electronics unit for easier cleaning. Each element of the light is also designed to be completely user-repairable with spare parts provided by Orb. It’s also brighter and rechargeable via the new USB-C universal standard cable.

Bidon Bling: The Orb boasts 8 hours on constant mode and 16 when flashing thanks to its USB-rechargeable battery.

The Orb MKII launches in January and we have one on pre-order to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, simply leave us a comment below.

Seeing the light on road safety

Logic dictates that the larger and heavier the vehicle, the greater its driver’s responsibility for the safety of others. The Highway Code now refers to a hierarchy of responsibility on the roads, but in practice – and not helped by the absence of presumed liability in law – vulnerable road users are forced to make way for others; just one of the reasons why cyclists in this country feel compelled to use ever more high-visibility clothing and lights.

The ethical choice

The ETA was established in 1990 as an ethical provider of green, reliable travel services. Over 30 years on, we continue to offer cycle insurance , breakdown cover and mobility scooter insurance while putting concern for the environment at the heart of all we do.

The Good Shopping Guide judges us to be the UK’s most ethical provider.

Great idea to enhance side visibility which is always a risk for cyclists at junctions and roundabouts.

Increasing the all-round visibility of the cyclist in darkness or low light conditions is a fabulous idea. This one should increase the side on and all round visibility greatly!
