Torm: A proper grassroots brand

Torm is the product of two former scientists, Al and Paul, who left behind corporate careers in 2009 in search of something more hands-on and fulfilling. The pair took over The Bike Shop in Broadstairs, Kent – a long-standing fixture in the local cycling scene – and set about building something different.

When running a traditional bike shop proved financially unsustainable on its own, they turned their attention to kit. After discovering the comfort and practicality of Merino SportWool, they began designing their own jerseys – simple, well-made pieces rooted in classic design and built to last. By selling directly to riders, they could keep things affordable without cutting corners.

Over a decade later, Torm is still run by just the two of them. They’ve chosen to stay small, focusing on quality, sustainability and staying close to the cycling community that inspired it all.
