GoPro lite: The Polaroid Cube action camera
May 21, 2015
The Polaroid Cube action camera uses built-in magnets to mount itself quickly and easily to bicycle handlebars.
GoPro might have revolutionised the action sports camera market, making its designer a billionaire in the process, but unless you throw yourself down mountainside tracks for a living you might be better suited and better suited with something smaller, and cheaper.
The Polaroid Cube
Poloroid has thrown itself into the market with the splash-resistant, shockproof and magnetic mount equipped Cube. The camera boasts 1080p HD video, the now-obligatory 124° wide-angle lens, and a built-in battery that records up to 90 minutes.
The smaller size of the Polaroid Cube makes it ideally suited to mounting on a bicycle handlebar.

Do bicycle helmet cams improve safety?
Bicycle cam technology is becoming increasingly popular among urban cyclists. It may even become incorporated cycle helmet design. There is no doubt that film footage can prove helpful in the event of a road traffic collision, but it is questionable whether the widespread adoption of in-vehicle cameras will improve the behaviour of road users.
Widely publicised footage of collisions involving cyclists gives a distorted view of cycling and risks perpetuating the myth that cycling in towns is dangerous.
How does the law regard helmet cam evidence?
There is no reason why helmet cam footage cannot be admitted as evidence like CCTV is used. It is likely that a witness statement would have to accompany the helmet cam footage and it would have to be downloaded to a CD with a certificate (preferably countersigned by a solicitor) stating that it had not been altered in any way from its original digital format.
