Cycle Rescue

Bicycles are supremely dependable machines, but occasionally they do break down. Even the shortest journey comes to an abrupt halt if you can’t fix a flat tyre, broken chain or buckled wheel at the roadside. And if you’re unlucky enough to lose your bike lock key, your ride home may not begin in the first place.

It’s why 30 years ago we launched Cycle Rescue  – the UK’s first breakdown cover for bicycles.

ETA Cycle Rescue covers all kinds of cycle including trikes and cargo bikes. If you ride an e-bike, you’ll be covered against breakdowns caused by mechanical faults, electrical problems, punctures or a flat battery.

How much does bicycle breakdown cost?

Cycle Rescue costs only £24 per year with no hidden extras to pay if your bicycle suffers a breakdown.

How does bicycle breakdown cover work?

When you suffer a breakdown (including punctures) while out cycling, or are unable to continue due to an injury, our 24-hour Cycle Rescue team is on hand to arrange transport for you and your bicycle to a safe location.

Should your bicycle lock be vandalised, we can send a recovery vehicle to assist you or pay for a locksmith. The same goes for lost keys if you’re unable to continue your ride.

We are proud to be rated Britain’s most ethical provider by The Good Shopping Guide.

When we had a car we used ETA for our breakdown cover and, unfortunately, had to call on it a few times. It was a great service. Now we have bicycles only, so far we’ve been able to fix our own breakdowns and the bottle would make fixing them ourselves even simpler! If we couldn’t sort the problem we’d be sustained by those tempting bars until ETA help arrives!

Reassuring to see tire levers included with the repair kit, but is there room for a wrench (or even a multitool) in there? I’m going to need to get the wheel off in the first place.

I’ve relied on ETA insurance for all the 10 years I’ve owned my road bike. I haven’t found a better alternative yet.

Road breakdown cover looks interesting especially if injury prevents me from doing what I’ve always managed to do: repair a puncture on the spot.
