Spring clean your bicycle with a cordless pressure washer

cordless pressure washer

Pressure washers make light work of jobs that might otherwise be a real chore, but they can be too powerful for many tasks. Also, setting them up can be a faff if your garden hose is prone to kinks.

Both drawbacks are addressed by the Titan cordless pressure washer we’ve been testing. It might not be powerful enough to jet wash a patio, but it’s perfect for tackling muddy bicycles.

And there’s no need to connect to a mains water supply. You can draw water from any receptacle; bucket, watering can, water butt – anything you have handy. The 6-metre hose supplied with the pressure washer includes a filter to protect the pump from particles.

Titan cordless pressure washer

We unleashed the cordless pressure washer on a bike covered in dry, caked-on mud. It made quick work of what can be a fiddly task – even hard-to-reach areas like the axles took no time. Judging by the power level indicator, putting two buckets of water through the washer had no discernible effect on the power remining in the 5Ah battery. The instructions claim a run time of 45 minutes, although we didn’t test this ourselves.

Another plus is these battery-powered pressure washers are far quieter than their corded cousins.

Win a cordless pressure washer

We’re giving away the Titan cordless pressure washer we tested this week (one careful owner and used only once!). It’s worth £110 and we were so impressed by it, at least one person in the office is going to buy their own. To be in with a chance of bagging it, simply leave us a comment below.

A very suitable pressure washer for cycles, too much pressure is not good as the water may penetrate places where water is not needed. Dried up mud may need a bit of encouragement as it always does.

Having one of these to clean the bike afterwards may encourage me more to get back onto the bike onto the local forest tracks after a number of years of ill health. Forest tracks will be safer than riding on the road until I gain confidence and speed.

These look seem ideal for bike washing. Not so powerful as to wash the grease out of bearings (though still pays to be careful around those areas), can use water from a water butt rather than energy intensive treated tap water, and if you’re washing away from the water source less of the wrestling with long garden or pressure washer hoses. Considering one for the cargo bike since it’s harder to get that near a water source at our house.

My solution is better for the environment as I’m currently using a Streetwize 8L hand-pump sprayer (similar to a garden sprayer but with a soft brush attachment), probably about the same pressure as the prize above, but with no need for batteries, just fill it up with soapy water, pump it up to full pressure and wash away (can also use the lance to ‘jet’ wash/rinse off too).
