Still life in steel: win a keirin print for your wall
September 25, 2025

At first glance, this print is striking for what it leaves out. Rendered with graphic precision, the bike sits still. No rider, no track, no motion – just poised geometry. Yet for those who know, Gianmarco Magnani’s artwork "Keirin 1" pulls you into a very different world: the tightly choreographed theatre of keirin racing.
Keirin began in Japan in 1948 as a betting sport and has since become an Olympic discipline. Riders circle a velodrome behind a pacing motorbike, building speed before the derny pulls away and the sprint erupts. What follows is equal parts calculation and chaos – positioning, timing, and sometimes a clash of shoulders.
We like how cycling lends itself to art. A bicycle is both everyday object and design classic, as at home in a gallery as it is on the street. On a wall, cycling art does more than decorate. It can spark conversation, connect you to memories of rides past, or simply remind you of the elegance of a well-made machine.
At ETA we spend most of our time immersed in the practicalities of cycling – breakdown recovery when things go wrong, insurance cover that doesn’t trip you up on the small print. But cycling is also culture, craft and creativity. Hanging something like this onyour wall is a way of keeping that culture present, day to day – a still image that celebrates why two wheels matter.
