LightSKIN LED: World’s most stylish bicycle light

There’s no legal requirement for a car to have headlamps, but that doesn’t stop them being fitted to every model. So why are things so different when it comes to bicycles?

lightskin LED seat post

The LightSKIN LED seat post is a step towards factory-fitted bicycle lights; the five LEDs look beautifully sleek and are impossible to leave at home.

Two AA batteries located inside the seat post provide up to 400 hours of illumination. To change the batteries, the seat post is simply removed and new batteries inserted. Thanks to a silicone coating, the LightSKIN seatpost is completely weatherproof.

Win a LightSKIN LED

We have one LightSKIN LED seat post to give away.

To enter the prize draw, simply leave a comment at the bottom of this page and let us know which diameter post you’d like:

27.2 mm (good for most MTBs and road bikes), 30.8 mm , 31.6 mm – black (length 350 mm) or 31.8 mm – black (length 550 mm for Brompton). We’ll pick a name at random on Friday 13 February.

Cycle insurance – including theft of parts

ETA bicycle insurance covers parts and fixed accessories as standard. It means if someone pinches your seat post, handlebars or quick release wheels you are covered. And because we understand it’s not always possible, we don’t insist you secure the wheels.

One simple policy

For 24 years we have been providing straightforward, affordable bicycle insurance. Whether you use your bike to commute, shop, race or amble in the park, ETA cycle insurance has you covered.

Many cycle insurers offer very limited cover, charging extra for features we believe should come as standard – such as third party cover, personal accident or extension of your cover to family and friends. ETA cycle insurance provides one fully-comprehensive package for total peace of mind, whatever your cycling needs.

  • Theft, accidental damage and vandalism
  • New-for-old replacement – no devaluation
  • £5m Third Party cover on any bike
  • £20k Personal Accident cover on any bike
  • Family and friends covered
  • Worldwide cover for cycle touring
  • Cycle Breakdown cover – including punctures
  • Replacement cycle hire
  • Free legal advice
  • Race events and triathlons covered

Sweet! but looks a tad uni-directional to be able to truly replace other lights. Surely it just needs some sort of diffuser that can be clipped–on to the post, over the light to help refract the light sideways? Maybe with a bit of a reflector added as well.

Still see many a cyclist without lights, especially at dusk. I have tried to offer advice but got too much aggro so I now keep quiet.

Not easy for someone to nick these rather snazzy lights & haven’t got to worry about breaking the holding clip either. I’d like 27.2 mm please
