August 3, 2009

Thousands of people took to the streets of Manchester yesterday for the first of several events aiming to encourage more people to travel by bicycle.
Skyride Manchester was the opening leg of a national tour which will visit several cities across Britain to get people on their bikes and enjoying the benefits of a fitter and healthier lifestyle.
Cyclists of various ages and abilities turned up for the event, while several Beijing gold medallists also made an appearance, including Jason Kenny, Ed Clancy and Victoria Pendleton.
Riders began the ten kilometre journey from Albert Square in the city centre and travelled to the Manchester Velodrome, before heading back into town.
