The folding bicycle you wear on your back
October 23, 2009

The latest folding bicycle has a neat solution to the problem of what to do when this type of bike needs carrying – the Bergmönch incorporates a backpack into its frame.
The bike has an aluminium frame, full suspension, adjustable air suspension and disc brakes to make it ideally suited for off-road downhill riding, which is just as well as it has no pedals.
A spokesperson for the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) said: “The addition of a rucksack on this downhill bike is clever, but most cyclists will miss the pedals.”
The bike costs around £1500.
Cheap cycle insurance for folding bikes

Leading cycle insurance provider ilovemybike.co.uk now offers a forty per cent discount on all folding bicycles. For example, a £600 Brompton would cost £37.80 to insure for a year.
This price includes new-for-old replacement and accidental damage, third party insurance, personal accident cover and if you breakdown, you will be recovered from anywhere in Britain (this service alone costs £35 a year when bought separately).
