Music-loving drivers top bad habit poll
March 26, 2009
Britain is a nation of "distracted drivers", according to research from moneysupermarket.com.
A study by the price comparison website has shown that there are a range of bad habits which keep motorists’ attention away from the road.
The worst offence, taking 77 per cent of the vote, is changing radio station or a CD while behind the wheel.
Next up is eating or drinking while driving, both of which were nominated by 52 per cent of participants, with being distracted by children or pets fourth in the rundown.
Andy Leadbetter, managing director of insurance for the company, stated that the road requires "complete concentration at all times".
He added: "Any lapse in concentration, even for a second to change radio stations or take a bite from a sandwich while driving, could have severe or even fatal consequences."
Not wearing a seatbelt, applying perfume, using a mobile phone and slowing down to see an accident also made the list.
