Hummer electric car is pint-sized
January 10, 2013
Hummer 4x4s have always looked incongruous on British roads; their sizeable chrome grilles that do such a good job reflecting the California sun and sky look garish on a drab winter’s day over here and the obesity of their bodywork is ill-suited to narrower streets.
You don’t need to be a dyed-in-the-wool environmentalist to recognise 15mpg as profligacy, so it is timely that GM has licensed a pint-sized electric version of the Hummer, which is now available to buy in Britain.
The Electric Hummer HX is an official licensed product of General Motors. It’s not a car, but a quadricycle. Little bigger than golf buggy, the battery-powered SUV is best imagined as a G-Wiz on steroids.
As with all other electric cars, the Hummer HX is exempt from vehicle excise duty and parking charges in many areas.
