Flamethrower glove for bicycles
March 1, 2012
Cyclists can choose from a veritable arsenal of products designed to help them stand out in the urban jungle – from air horns to strobe lights – but such is the competition from traffic noise and visual clutter that it can be a battle to stand out from the crowd.
It’s unlikely that flamethrower-equipped bicycles will ever be sold over the counter, but they do exist – and now in a handy glove-mounted design ideal for seeing off an aggressive overtaker or simply indicating an intention to turn across oncoming traffic at night.
Can I buy one?
The engineering firm Laser Gadgets has no intention of marketing the flamethrower glove (or even selling the plans) so it is destined to join the other one-off armed bicycles that have gone before.
In 2010, the ETA built its own own urban assault bicycle equipped with a handlebar-mounted flamethrower, ejector seat and caterpillar track.
