City Cab electric ride-on suitcase
June 26, 2014

With the distance between airport entrance and departure gate an ever-lengthening walk, the ride-on electric suitcase was an invention waiting to happen. And with the trek between the entrance to Beijing Airport Terminal 3 and its furthest departure gate a staggering 2 miles, China was bound to be its birthplace.

Chinese inventor He Liang-Ky believes his 20 km/h City Cab electric suitcase will ease the country’s congestion and pollution problems and hopes to put it on sale for less than £400.

The electric suitcase is too large to carry onboard as hand luggage, but may appeal to British travellers reluctant to start their holiday with a walk. The distance between the entrance to Gatwick North Terminal and the airport’s furthest gate is over one mile. The average person in Britain today walks less than two miles each day.
European travel insurance from the ETA whether or not the trip involves walking and costs only £12.02 for one week's cover. Get an instant quote
