Business fleets offered free courses on tailgating
March 24, 2017
Tailgating is a contributory factor in a significant number of collisions so business fleet operators are now being offered free training for their drivers.
The Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) is offering free courses on behalf the Road Safety Trust.
Employers with young, male drivers who undertake regular driving in light goods vehicles or cars during work, with significant mileage on motorways and major roads are invited to register their interest in the free trial by emailing Steve Willis (swillis@trl.co.uk) or calling 01235 911016.
TRL aims to recruit 8-16 staff per employer for the courses between now and the end of April.
The course will involve a 90-minute interactive workshop exploring tailgating behaviour. Following that, participants will receive supporting communications packs designed to prompt better driving habits and record progress.
Finally, a teleconference at the end of the trial will evaluate how drivers found the experience and give practical advice for reducing tailgating that can be shared with other staff.
