Bonfire night bicycles
November 4, 2011
Laying a trail of burning rubber on the road as a way of getting yourself noticed now the clocks have gone back will attract the wrong sort of attention and cost a small fortune in replacement tyres, but with Bonfire Night upon us, what better excuse to celebrate the ‘pyro-bikes’ below?
The Riding Man pyro-sculpture pictured right was built to celebrate the Burning man festival in America and is an eye-catching, two-wheeled take on ‘penny for the guy’.
The launch of the Diablo Dura Ace road bike involved it being ‘baptized by fire’; ridden with its tyres ablaze and leaving a trail of flame in its wake.
The BOND bike is equipped with a working ejector seat to deal with bicycle thieves and a handlebar-mounted flamethrower to stop motorists from overtaking too close. The film below shows early testing of the flamethrower.
Don’t try this at home Please remember that all the bicycles below were built and ridden by professionals
