Blackrod considers speeding measures
August 10, 2009
A town in the north of England could implement new road safety measures to help cut accidents in the area.
Officials in Blackrod are considering a mobile speed operation in an effort to reduce the number of people driving too quickly through the region.
According to Sergeant Danny Brophy, who has recently met with local councillors to discuss the issue, speeding motorists are the "biggest problem" in Blackrod. He added that as a regular user of the town’s roads, he recognises and has experienced the issue for himself.
He told the Bolton News: “There were also concerns about motorbikes, especially on a Sunday. We will look into ways that this can be addressed, which could include a mobile speed operation.”
In other news, Tottenham and England footballer Jermain Defoe has been fined and given four points on his licence for speeding.
