Compare Breakdown Cover

ETA vs the rest

Breakdown cover is all about peace of mind. Should the worst happen, you need to be confident that the provider you have chosen will be on hand to help you in your time of need.

Low premiums can be attractive, but it’s worth checking policy wordings carefully as more often than not, things which ought to be covered are either excluded or cleverly sold as upgrades.

We believe that good breakdown cover should offer cover for things like lost keys, misfuelling and trailer-towing as standard. To demonstrate this, we have put together a comparison of our breakdown cover against some of the other well known providers.

What makes a good breakdown cover policy?

Carbon emissions offset
No claims discount
Recovery due to lost/broken keys

Not all breakdown cover providers are made equal

Before making a purchase, ask yourself:

  • Will they restrict the number of times I can call them out each year?
  • Charge me extra if I break down while towing a trailer or caravan?
  • Will they recover me if I’ve lost or damaged my keys?
  • If a suitable repairer is unavailable, will they charge me for a second recovery to get my vehicle to a garage the next day?

Friendly, ethical, reliable

Established over 30 years ago, and with over 5,000 recovery trucks on call 24/7, we have a proven track record of providing efficient, reliable breakdown cover.

We handpick only the best local mechanics and garages around Britain to send out if you break down. We believe this way of working is efficient, environmentally friendly and helps support local communities and economies, too.

On top of this, we offset the carbon emissions of the recovery trucks that go out to assist you. This reduces the impact your breakdown has on our environment. We also support the ETA Trust, a charity we set up in 1994 to campaign for a safer, cleaner transport future.
