Win a set of bike lights for winter

cateye lights

With a little over two weeks before the end of British Summer Time, it pays to check and – if necessary – renew your winter bike lights.

In honour of the change of season we have a USB-rechargeable Cateye Volt 200XC and Rapid Mini light set worth £50 to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, simply leave us a comment below and we’ll pick a winner next week.

Short on cash? Don’t think for a moment that you need to spend big bucks to get good illumination. One of our favourite rear bike lights is the high intensity light from Cree available for only £8 from Wilko

These would be great please. Mine have been donated elsewhere so now need another pair to stay safer in the dark, especially with many more cars on the road now. I wish more cyclists would use lights, very difficult to see them especially if wearing dark clothing.

Love cateye volt lights. Have used them on two on my bikes for years. Sadly lost my front light recently when it jumped off when I went over a bump – my own fault for not clicking it in place. Anyway, if you’re offering me a free replacement I’m very happy to accept graciously k

Yes please, is it possible to have too many lights?
You don’t realise how dim some older ones are, not that the brightest eye burning option is better, there is a limit, a car driver won’t cause you a problem 2 miles away, but blinding them as they approach certainly will.

    some hi-viz would be great
    but you are tempting fate

I would recommend all cycling commuters to carry back up lights, for when your main ones run out of charge.

If I won, I’d use these nice ones as my main set and relegate my current ones to backup.

Needed. I was doing daily rides with my son during lockdown, and now riding to school every day, taking a detour so that he gets 3-4 miles in his legs before he starts lessons. We need to carry this on through winter to prevent both of us going stir crazy with lack of cycling.
