Puncture repair kits up for grabs

DHB saddle bag competition

You can ride 1,000 uneventful miles only for the puncture fairy to strike with a vengeance.

Nobody knows why, but punctures, like buses, tend to turn up in twos and threes. But however unwelcome an interruption your next puncture will be, you can ensure your roadside pit-stop runs smoothly by carrying the correct tools.

With the weather finally improving and many bikes emerging from winter hibernation, we have five micro saddle bags and puncture repair kits to give away. If you have cycle insurance with us, don’t forget that it includes breakdown cover – if you suffer a mechanical breakdown while our cycling (including punctures), we’ll arrange for you and your bike to be recovered.

Win a DHB micro saddle bag and puncture repair kit

Simply leave us a message at the bottom of the page and we’ll pick winners next week.

Yes please, sometimes when I change from my 30 yr old mountain bike to my road bike I forget to swap tubes in my bag too and when I get a puncture I only have a 26″ tube on hand!
(As the first person to comment, does that mean I’m a winner too?)

My existing saddle bag and repair kit has been sitting under my saddle for so many years and been exposed to all the elements over that time, that a) it must weigh twice as much as when I bought it new, b) the zip is so caked in crud that it would never open when I needed it, and c) it does doesn’t look as cool as the DHB one on offer. So please, can I have one ??

Also, a good idea to carry a few spare bits in your car too if you drive – in case you come across a rider having grief at the side of the road 🙂

One of the joys of bikes is that most minor repairs can be carried out by the rider with a little knowledge and simple tools. It make this mode of transport wonderfully convivial. Why bicycle puncture repair isn’t on the school curriculum defeats me, it’s so easy and so satisfying to get yourself back on the road after an annoying thorn has halted your progress. Every household should have a puncture repair outfit !

ADVICE TO ALL: In the event of a puncture, be sure to rigorously inspect your tyre for the source of the puncture to try to avoid a repeat. We should also regularly inspect our tyres for embedded debris which will eventually work its way in and cause a puncture.
