Buzzbike over free cycle scheme

buzzbike

Buzzbike is the young pretender of urban bicycle share – a scheme that allows you to use a stylish city bike for months at a time for free as long as you use it frequently enough.

Cycle schemes should of course be an integral part of every city, but there’s always been a mismatch between London cool and the rather stuffy Boris Bike brand; the bicycles used are, by necessity, rather clunky and bank sponsorship is naff. The contrast with Buzzbike couldn’t be more stark. Okay, it’s still paid for by corporate sponsors, but the Reynolds single-speed frames, Brooks saddles and sleek mudguards are far better suited to commuters than the heavy, tourist-proof Boris Bikes.

If you cycle to work in central London at least 12 times a month, use of the bike, lights, lock, cycle insurance and annual servicing are all free.

The bike synchs with your phone to check you’re upholding your side of the bargain: 12 commutes per month

The first brand to sign up is payments platform Braintree (a PayPal company) who will be launching the first bikes this September. In order to grow their fleet and launch another 1500 bikes in early 2017, Buzzbike is offering the public the chance to own 25% of the company via a Crowdcube campaign, where you can buy shares, making you a part owner in London’s new cycle scheme and helping put thousands of bikes on the road. Cycle insurance, whatever you ride

Whatever style of bicycle you choose to ride, cycle insurance from the ETA includes new-for-old, third party cover, personal accident cover, race event cover and if you suffer a mechanical breakdown, they will come out and recover you and your bike.

ETA cycle insurance offers a true new-for-old benefit – however old the bike, if it’s stolen you get enough to buy a new model.

For 25 years we have been providing this kind of straightforward, affordable bicycle insurance. It’s one of the reasons The Good Shopping Guide voted us ethical in Britain. Whether you use your bike to commute, shop, race or amble in the park, ETA cycle insurance has you covered.
