Ethical cycle clothing: Win a Route cycling cap

Ethical cycle clothing is perfectly in keeping with a pursuit that is environmentally benign.

Route is an ethical cycle wear label based in Scotland helping to keep the cycling cap alive. Their caps are handmade in Glasgow using Harris Tweed, bamboo silk and organic fair trade cotton. We’re fans of the company’s free ‘repair or replace’ service to keep its clothing in use for as long as possible. Customers can return any Route product in need of repair. If they can’t fix the problem, they recycle the item into something else and send you a replacement.

Win a Route Clothing cycling cap

Featuring a double cotton construction to give added protection from the wind, this is the £28 Route Clothing floral cap. The lightweight cotton is breathable helping to keep the worst of the cold. A cotton sweat band helps wick sweat away from your head and keeping you cool on hot days. We have one to give away – leave us a comment below and we’ll pick a name out of the hat.

The cycling cap

The casquette has been worn for almost as long as there has been competitive cycling, but since helmets became compulsory for racing, the humble cycling cap has risked becoming little more than a fashion accessory. This is a shame because they are as practical as they are stylish. The short peak can be turned up or down providing shade from sunlight and shielding eyes from rain.

The ethical choice

The ETA was established in 1990 as an ethical provider of green, reliable travel services. Over 30 years on, we continue to offer cycle insurance , breakdown cover and mobility scooter insurance while putting concern for the environment at the heart of all we do.

The Good Shopping Guide judges us to be the UK’s most ethical provider.

Hi, is this cap MAGIC as well as retro. – to recreate the 50s when I started cycling. Empty roads, British-made bikes( & everything else), and train guards’ vans which swallowed bikes, prams, luggage et al. Saw a bloke with a fridge once. It was me. Cordially, Keith.

Hmm… nicely cut & would fit in fine in the city. Not sure I would be brave enough to sport it in rural Norfolk!
