Lanesplitter: Half car, half motorbike

If you ever stare out of your car windscreen at a seemingly endless queue of traffic, but are reluctant about swapping four wheels for two, perhaps you’re in the market for the Lanesplitter.

Lanesplitter

Very much a concept vehicle, the rear-wheel-drive, all-electric vehicle is designed as a car that can split into two closed-top motorcycles. The idea offers the load carrying and social experience of a car, with the option of practical personal urban transport when neded.

Chipp Walters, who has designed several projects for NASA in the ’80s and ’90s, lead the Lanesplitter project, admits there would be many enginnering hurdles to overcome if the vehicle was to be produced, but explains that plausibility is the key to any good concept.

The ethical choice

The ETA was established in 1990 as an ethical provider of green, reliable travel services. Over 30 years on, we continue to offer cycle insurance , breakdown cover and mobility scooter insurance while putting concern for the environment at the heart of all we do.

The Good Shopping Guide judges us to be the UK’s most ethical provider.
