With more than a little help from his owner, Maggie Scorer, a golden retriever called Oscar will next month embark on a 5,000-mile cycle trip around Britain.
Comfortably seated in a Dutch-designed DoggieRide trailer attached to the back of Maggie’s bike, the duo will be unsupported during the trip, although they will benefit from Cycle Breakdown cover from the ETA.
Dutch Dog Design and its DoggyRide brand have over the last decade developed all manner of ‘biking-with-your-dog’ products including trailers, strollers, and baskets.
Maggie will start in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, cycling anti-clockwise around the coast of Great Britain. She is hoping to be back in Aldeburgh by the end of August. Based on 30 miles a day, the whole trip will takefive months.
The goal is to raise £25,000, in aid of the charities Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and SANDS.
