The Ziesel is an extreme mobility scooter that laughs in the face of extreme weather and terrain.
Of the 300,000 mobility scooters in Britain, most are surprisingly capable at tackling slopes, curbs and small steps, but occasionally they do get into difficulty – there is even a breakdown recovery service for mobility scooters. However, it is hard to imagine such a fate befalling the mighty Ziesel, an off-road mobility scooter that would give a Land Rover a run for its money.
Fitted with two electric motors and caterpillar-tracks that allow it to tackle almost any terrain, including deep snow, the Ziesel has a top speed of 22mph and a price tag of around £15,000.

The Ziesel is not the world’s only outlandish mobility scooter. Greathouse Labs are behind a design dubbed ‘Lord Humongous’, a heavy-duty mobility scooter equipped with a flamethrower capable of firing a 10-metre jet of flame – the length of a London bus. With a budget of £645, the scooter was stitched together from a golf cart, a helicopter seat, all-terrain tyres and a collection of old dental machines.
The ETA’s own QTvan miniature caravan can be towed by mobility scooter. It allows the user to enjoy all the comforts of home on a camping trip, without the need for a car.

Have I fallen into an episode of Top Gear….?

I have parkinsons, and I might have to end up in one of these things, the only thing I wouldn’t. mind driving is that track buggy it’s cool, I used to drive a V8 landrover110. Defender and all the rest look like they should be driven by granny smith Come On Manufacturers appeal to the younger crowd. I’m only 49

James Delittle – I 100% agree. I am only 44 but headed in that direction, like you. I want a mobility quad bike or similar so can off road in forest etc with kids. But can’t find anything that doesn’t look mobility. Except this £15000 one!

I had a mobility scooter since I was 32 and felt like an old person in all these years.
It would be great if they could convert it into a better off road scooter also to be able to go on sand I’m sure someone who could weld make it into a projet and give it a groovy respray
Cheryl
Forgot to mention at a cheaper price than another new one at £3500.

I could see the ziesel a role in my old regiment in a Recognise unit ( the Queens own yeomanry) . You easily creep up on your enemy completely undetected with those silent engines and if seen you could mount some serious hardware on that rolcage and you could cover some ground on one charge and if you use one of those suitcase generators which you could weld ťo the back fully portable

Hi all
Like most disabled people I wanted to get out on the moors, the beach or just anywhere that my usual mobility scooter just couldn’t go, I was fed up sitting in the car with the window cracked open while everyone else enjoyed themselves, I thought there must be a better way
So I recently got a battery powered off road quad bike, which I had help design and draw up the specification for the UK, 60 volt, 50 mile range, massive low pressure tyres for mud and sand, all road legal lights etc and it can carry me at 23 stone and 6ft 4 in relative comfort anywhere, it even has a 2000kg winch just in case
Talk about life changing, if there was enough interest I could be talked into creating some more and all at the price of a traditional mobility scooter, or less cost than the “off road” capable scooters I looked at first

Hi Ian,
I’m a double amputee who loves the beach, recently bought a TGA vita X, but found its only capable of going on firm sand. The zeisal looks amazing but so is the price would be interested for you to personal msg me about your quad adaption.

Hi I’d be very grateful if you could tell me more and a price if you could make me one or if not the plans to make one myself. I’m 55 and 6.5” and 19 stone it’s so Depressing nit being able to get out and about a think this would be a great help to me. Many thanks for your time Keith

It would be very nice, and of interest, if Zeisel would inform potential buyers of, not only the price and color of your vehicle, but basic information like “range”. It is annoying to search your literature and find zero information on Zeisel’s basic functionality.

I found this article when searching for ‘tracked mobility scooter’. Like all the posts here, I’m frustrated at so many places being inaccessible. I have an Atto scooter for about town, which addresses the geriatric image. my old scooter, with pneumatic tyres, does handle some terrain but can’t cope with sand, gravel/shingle, or any step more than about two inches. Love to lean about any developments in scooters that could provide more freedom.

why is it so expensive?
after all, people with disabilities do not have such money 🙁
I would like to drive in the woods but I can’t use an ordinary electric scooter, could I build a tracked vehicle myself?
