Gold bicycle 2009
A gold bicycle to stow in your helicopter!
A 24ct-gold folding bike launched today is aimed at cyclists who would like a healthy and green means of transport to stow in their luxury sports car, power boat or helicopter.

The golden bike costs £2,500 and folds down into a discreet bag the size of a small suitcase.
The bike proves that cycling can be luxurious as well as healthy fun and green.
It is available to buy from 13th June 2009 – the first day of Bike Week.
One of the bikes is being given away. For your chance to win it, simply get a no-obligation instant quote for cycle insurance using the link at the bottom of this page.
Director at cycle insurance provider ilovemybike.co.uk, Andrew Davis, said: “When folded this bike fits as easily in a helicopter as it does on a number 37 bus – it’s a luxurious and healthy way to travel for the price of a scooter.”
How we pimped the bike
The bike started life as a stock Brompton S2L.
We stripped it down, polished it, plated it in copper and finally covered it in 24ct gold.
The bar-mounted selector has been replaced by a specially fabricated jockey shift gear change with a pool ball on top.
All cables are gold braid, the spoke nipples are gold. The plastic fittings you use to secure the folding frame have been replaced with stop cock handles.
The runner wheels have been replaced with skateboard wheels.
Insurance cover for bicycles
All bikes are vulnerable to theft and in the case of an accident you may need to seek compensation or even deal with a claim by someone else. Cycle insurance from the ETA is fully comprehensive and covers electic-assist bicycles.
At no extra cost, it includes new-for-old replacement, cover for accidental damage, third party insurance, personal accident cover and if you breakdown, we will even come out and recover you and your bike.
