Children to learn about climate change

Schoolchildren in the UK will study how to tackle climate change in workshops in classrooms across the country.
The scheme will take place because of a partnership between Toyota and the environmental charity Groundwork, who have combined to help children work towards the sustainable development of their schools.
Groundwork’s chief executive Tony Hawkhead said that young people will be affected by climate change more than any other group but are given few opportunities to join in with any local decision making processes.
“By encouraging schoolchildren to consider what changes need to be made to make their school a more environmentally sustainable place to learn they also gain an increased sense of responsibility for the school and the local and global environment,” he added.
Earlier this week, ‘green’ car company No Internal Combustion Engine announced that it expected more electric vehicles on the road in London following Boris Johnson’s mayoral election victory.
