Don’t Choke Britain

Peak hour congestion is a major problem in many British cities. And as congestion gets worse, the pressure is on to build more roads. Traffic jams are bad for your health too! Encourage people to walk, cycle or take public transport to work and leave the car at home. “Ride one in five” – take the bus or train to work one day a week for the month.

Take Action!

  • A group of you might like to pledge to “ride one in five” for the month. Once you have a core group, publicise what you’re planning to do on notice boards and through the company/in-house magazine. Invite everyone to join in. How many people can you sign up? What about the Managing Director/Head Teacher/Chief Executive?
  • Let the local paper know what you’re planning. Set up a photo call (maybe lots of people waiting at the bus stop in full uniform: get out those mortarboards/helmets/stethoscopes!)
