New Tesla S electric car will win on looks

The new electric saloon car from Tesla due be unveiled on 23rd March 2009 looks set to be as stylish as it is green.

Increases in environmental awareness and the cost of fuel have not altered the fact that the appearance of a car is still a huge influence on its popularity – a fact that has not helped many electric cars, which are about function first and foremost.

A beautifully-styled car like the Tesla S (pictured right) will do much to change the image of electric cars for the better.

The new Model S saloon will cost the equivalent of around £40,000 in America and will boast a 160-mile range.

Tesla Roadster performance

Tesla has already begun production of its £75,000 Roadster model, the world’s first high-performance production electric sports car.

Compared to the very few electric cars already on the market, the two-seater, all-electric Tesla is radically different in almost every respect.

The electric cars currently on sale in Britain have relatively modest performance and range. The G-Wizz model which has sells best in urban areas has a range of 40 miles.
