Latest car bicycle racks use vacuum suckers

A company that builds marine products has entered the car bike rack business with a beautifully simple and seemingly highly-effective system which secures itself to the vehicle using vacuum cups rather than the usual hooks and straps. The racks start at around £100.

SeaSucker uses vacuum cups to attach the rack to smooth surfaces using a built-in pump with enough force to allow a person to easily support a person’s weight.

The racks can hold one to three bikes and are available to suit any rooftop or the back of hatchbacks, saloons or pick-ups.

Just as clever is the company’s bicycle work stand which uses the same suckers to attach itself to a wall rather than take up floor space.
