If only everything in life was as reliable as a bicycle: The VW folding e-bike that charges in the boot
When Volkswagen recognises the need for having an electric bike permanently stored in the boot of its vehicles, the company reveals much about how it imagines congestion, low-emission zones and parking restrictions will affect the way we use our cars in the future.
As Lexus exhibits its electric bicycle in Britain this week, VW has unveiled the Bik.e; a concept e-bike that folds to the size of a spare tyre and can be charged from the car’s cigarette lighter.
The bike is able to travel 15 miles at a speed of 15mph.
A spokesperson for the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) said: “Concept vehicles are ten a penny, but the Bik.e is a good fit with the VW brand and stands more of a chance than most of making it to production.”
